American literary scholar and Author, Jonathan Gottschall, in his book The Storytelling Animal, wrote "We are, as a Species, addicted to Story. Even when the body goes to sleep, the mind stays up all night, telling itself stories."

Right from our evolution, we, as a species, have had a need for a narrative, A Story. A narrative on the need to huddle up, live together and procreate, which made us social. A narrative on what is right or wrong, whom we agree with or not, how we live and whom we can interact with, which made religions, communities , countries. A narrative for role models which made heroes, inspired revolutions, created leaders.

 

In  modern times, its this narrative with which countries define their approach and alignments. How businesses, corporations and brands communicate with their customers, to a family raising their young ones with their interpretation of the world, we all are dependent on a narrative. From macro to the most basic, at every step of our existence, we need this narrative, A Story.
